Loncor Gold Inc. continues to demonstrate the depth potential of its flagship Adumbi gold deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo, announcing encouraging results from its latest deep drilling campaign.
The Adumbi deposit currently contains an indicated mineral resource of 1.88 million ounces of gold (28.185 million tonnes grading 2.08 g/t Au) and an inferred mineral resource of 1.78 million ounces of gold (20.83 million tonnes grading 2.65 g/t Au), all within a USD1,600/oz open pit shell.
Recent drilling from borehole LADD030 intersected:
- 11.43 metres grading 1.77 g/t gold
- 6.61 metres grading 4.56 g/t gold, including 5.61 metres grading 5.24 g/t gold
- 7.73 metres grading 2.26 g/t gold
CEO John Barker said, “Core hole LADD030 was situated below the open pit shell in the northwest of the Adumbi deposit and intersected several mineralised zones at a vertical depth of 643 metres below surface and approximately 100 metres below the USD1,600 pit shell outline on section. The total true thickness of the BIF package, which hosts the gold mineralisation, was 107.80 metres.”

The company emphasised its rigorous quality control and assurance measures. Drill core samples were collected at one-metre intervals, split, and prepared on-site before being analysed at the independent SGS Laboratory in Mwanza, Tanzania. Standard fire assay was used on 50-gram aliquots, and selected high-grade samples were cross-checked using screen fire assay techniques. Loncor also inserted blanks, standards, and duplicates into the sample stream as part of its QA/QC protocol.
Located in the mineral-rich Ngayu Greenstone Belt in northeastern DRC, Adumbi is part of Loncor’s larger Imbo Project. The company has been steadily increasing its resource base in the region, where it holds an 84.68% interest in the Imbo Project’s combined indicated and inferred ounces.

Following a significant drilling program in 2020 and 2021, Loncor published a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for Adumbi in December 2021. The study confirmed the economic potential of an open-pit operation, and recent drill results like LADD030 suggest further upside from underground development.
