GoviEx launches exploration drive at Muntanga and Kariba Valley

GoviEx Uranium is intensifying its 2025 exploration efforts to unlock scale and value across one of Africa’s most promising uranium belts. The company has launched a focused field campaign at its Muntanga uranium project in Zambia, along with exploration activities in the nearby Kariba Valley.

This initiative aims to build on the momentum generated by a recent positive feasibility study, which highlighted a post-tax NPV8% of USD 243 million, by expanding the resource base, extending the mine life, and discovering new deposits that could significantly enhance the project’s long-term value.

The campaign will see approximately 3,500 metres of drilling across 35 holes, targeting four high-priority zones. These include near-mine prospects with potential to extend Muntanga’s current footprint, and a larger-scale opportunity at Kariba Valley, located 70 kilometres southeast along the same uranium trend. GoviEx’s updated geological model—based on a reassessment of historic drill data—has revealed compelling indications of untapped mineralisation, reigniting excitement among senior leadership during a recent site visit.

“After years of detailed feasibility and engineering work, we are super excited to refocus our geologic team on exploration and discovery,” said Govind Friedland, GoviEx’s Executive Chairman. “The Muntanga project already stands on a solid resource foundation, but what really inspires us is the opportunity to grow it—both near the existing deposits and through Kariba Valley, which we believe could be a true game-changer. This is one of Africa’s most underexplored uranium belts, and we’re only just beginning to understand its true scale.”

GoviEx’s exploration push comes at a time of renewed global interest in uranium supply, as countries accelerate their clean energy ambitions and seek stable sources of nuclear fuel.
