The visit to MMG Kinsevere aimed to evaluate the company’s implementation of community development projects under the cahier des charges, as well as its compliance with environmental standards in accordance with the Congolese Mining Code.

The Commission, chaired by Honourable Bokele Djema Adrien and composed of ten other MPs, was warmly welcomed by the Kinsevere management team.
MMG reported that it is completing the first five-year term of its cahier des charges, which includes a series of development projects in surrounding communities. The company also presented its environmental mitigation plan.

The visit included a Q&A session, a tour of the EW treatment plant, and an inspection of the water discharge point where lawmakers assessed the quality of water released into the surrounding environment. The delegation toured Kilongo and Kalilanda villages to assess the local impact of MMG’s development programmes.

The oversight mission reflects the national parliament’s role in ensuring responsible mining practices and ensuring alignment with national development goals. Lawmakers have emphasised the importance of balancing investment with community and environmental responsibilities to support the DRC president’s vision.
