In pictures: Highlights from day 1 of the WiMSA Symposium

Now in it’s second year, the Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA) Symposium has kicked off, marking the start of a two-day event taking place from 23 to 24 July. Established in 2010, WiMSA is an organisation that provides a platform supporting women’s personal growth, leadership, and career development within the South African mining industry.

WiMSA continues to champion opportunities for women in mining while addressing the unique challenges they face. The symposium offers a valuable space for connection, learning, and leadership alongside peers and industry pioneers.

The WiMSA Symposium officially kicked off today, 23 July, bringing together women across the South African mining industry for two days of insight, inspiration, and empowerment.
Raksha Naidoo, WiMSA Chairperson and Special Projects Lead, was in attendance, engaging with delegates and participating in conversations aimed at advancing women in the mining sector.
Leaders in the mining sector took to the stage to share strategies for advancing gender equity and building inclusive workplaces.
Panel discussions throughout the day tackled key issues affecting women in mining, from leadership challenges to workplace transformation.
